Activities

Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike!  Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”.   The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Payments, Cancellations, Refunds

Registration & Payments

Registration for Summer 2021 is open and will continue until we are full.  So, you may add additional weeks as the summer goes on. You must be enrolled in advance, however, in order to attend camp. We are happy to accept online registrations up until the night before the start of each week of camp, provided that space is available.

Full payment is due upon registration.  This includes a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $40 which includes 2 camp t-shirts. We accept ACH Payments and American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.

If your child has special needs or will require extra assistance while at camp, please contact us before you enroll to discuss!

Cancellations & Refunds

All requests for cancellations or changes must be made in writing to our office via email at info@kecamps.com. Cancellations made by July 4, 2021 will be refunded in full (less the registration fee).  After that, there are no refunds. We will, however, always offer a credit towards a future week (if space is available) or for next summer.

Covid-19 Safety Policy

As we enter into Summer 2021, we are fully prepared to take on the challenging circumstances surrounding Covid-19 - we did it in Summer 2020 and we can do it again! The health and safety of all campers, families, and staff members continues to be our absolute top priority. As we are all well-aware, protocols and guidelines surrounding Covid-19 are fluid and as such, we will adapt and adjust our policies, as needed, leading up to and during the camp season.

We encourage you to enroll early as spaces will be limited this summer and we expect that camp will fill up quickly!  We are sure you agree that a summer spent at camp will be more needed and meaningful than ever this year.

Please find our 2021 Covid-19 Safety Policy here.

Form Downloads

Don’t forget to take a look at the important camp forms below.

The State Health Department requires a record of immunization OR letter stating the medical or religious exemption reason to be collected before your child may attend camp.

Parent Manual

Be sure to read this manual for important and specific details about camp.

NJ Camper Health Form Supplement

Download this health form, print, complete and fax or email back to us as soon as you can and definitely before camp begins. You may also log back in to the registration site after you have enrolled your child to upload the paperwork there. We will ask for some medical information about your child during the online registration process. In addition, NJ state law requires that this supplement be on file for every camper. We thank you for your cooperation in getting this form to us in a timely manner.

Authorization to Administer Medication Form

Should your child require any medication during the camp day (including an Epi-Pen or Inhaler), we ask that you complete this form and send it directly to our office or hand it to your Camp Director on your child’s first day of camp.

Meet Your Camp Director

Dear Campers and Families,

My name is Allison Backer, and I am the GRCC Day Camp director! I am so excited to get to know you. We are going to have a BLAST!

I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013 with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and graduated from Binghamton University in 2017 with a M.S. in Educational Studies. For the past 8 years, I’ve been a classroom teacher for Pre-K, 3rd grade, and kindergarten. To me, the best thing about teaching is when a child has an “a-HA!” Moment—the moment where they understand a concept, try it on their own, and explore new and different ways of doing something. I see this in the classroom all the time, but the truth is, learning can happen anywhere at any time. In the spring and fall, I coach Girls on the Run in Montclair, and the transformation from the beginning of each season to the end is incredible. The girls try new things, take new risks, and make new friends at every practice. When I was a camp counselor in college, I loved sharing those moments with my campers, too. It was amazing to see shy, timid campers blossom into capable, confident adventurers. I am excited to cultivate these experiences at camp this summer!

Kids are natural born explorers. They want to know how things work and why things happen. They are curious, adventurous, and courageous. My favorite thing about working with kids is their openness to new experiences and willingness to try hard—things that even adults can re-learn to do every once in a while! The best way to work with kids is to “get in the mess”, to show kids that you are ready to be open, curious, and brave. This summer, I am so excited to join our campers on this journey. I am excited to learn new skills, try new ways to problem solve, and make new friends!

When I’m not teaching or coaching, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I’m a born-and-raised Jersey girl, and most of my family lives here, too! We especially love spending time together down the shore. I love watching baseball (Go Yankees!), football (Go Browns!), reading, cooking, and going to concerts. I also love to run—I have completed 11 half marathons and 5 full marathons!

I’m counting down the days until summer is here and camp begins. I can’t wait to get to know you all!

Allison Backer
