Club Registration Requirements
If you are not a Club Member of Firethorne Country Club, you must be “Sponsored” by a Club Member in order to register your child for camp. The Sponsoring Member will not be charged in association with Camp Firethorne in any way, however, he or she must be aware that you are listing him or her as your Sponsor. This policy allows Firethorne Country Club to ensure that all Non-Members attending camp are associated with a Club Member in some way.
Age Range: 4 - 10
All campers must be at least 4 years old by the first day they attend camp. In addition, campers must be potty-trained and able to handle a full day program.
Each day of camp will be a new and exciting experience for our campers as no two days with KE Camps are exactly alike! Our days begin with Hello Camp, a morning meeting of sorts where, through an assortment of organized activities, campers and staff get to know each other, review the day’s schedule and sing our special camp song! Similarly, we will end our days with Goodbye Camp, a time for wrap-up activities and reflections, SMILE Bands, snacks, and “see you later’s”. The bulk of camp will be spent participating in a wide variety of activities throughout the day that may include:

Lunch & Snacks
The club will provide a delicious and kid-friendly lunch for every camper each day. If you would prefer to pack your own lunch for your child, please do so in a cooler or backpack. A snack will be served each afternoon to all campers. We encourage you to pack some extra snacks for your child as well.
Please note that we are a “nut aware” camp. We ask that you do not pack any food for your child that contains nuts. Likewise, the lunches and snacks served by the club will not contain any nuts. If your child has a food allergy and you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
KE Camps requires all campers to wear our official camp shirt each day of the week. Please leave all electronic devices and cell phones at home. Campers should dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Additional shirts may be purchased at camp. Camp is a place to un-plug! Please pack the following items in a labeled bag or backpack:

Registration & Payments
Registration for Summer 2021 is open and will continue until we are full. So, you may add additional weeks as the summer goes on. You must be enrolled in advance, however, in order to attend camp.
Full payment is due upon registration. This includes a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $40 which includes 2 camp t-shirts. We accept ACH payemtns and American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.
If your child has special needs or will require extra assistance while at camp, please contact us before you enroll to discuss!
Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations made by June 20, 2021 will be refunded in full (less the registration fee). After that, there are no refunds. We will, however, always offer a credit towards a future week (if space is available) or for next summer.
Covid-19 Safety Policy
As we enter into Summer 2021, we are fully prepared to take on the challenging circumstances surrounding Covid-19 - we did it in Summer 2020 and we can do it again! The health and safety of all campers, families, and staff members continues to be our absolute top priority. As we are all well-aware, protocols and guidelines surrounding Covid-19 are fluid and as such, we will adapt and adjust our policies, as needed, leading up to and during the camp season.
We encourage you to enroll early as spaces will be limited this summer and we expect that camp will fill up quickly! We are sure you agree that a summer spent at camp will be more needed and meaningful than ever this year.

Meet Your Camp Director
Dear Campers and Families,
Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Jackie Vandegrift, and I am a 5th grade teacher at Sandy Ridge Elementary School in Waxhaw. This is my 7th year teaching in America. I am originally from England where I taught for 15 years, working with, children aged between 8 – 13 years old. I have also worked at summer reading camps in Union County since being in America. The children here were mainly 2nd and 3rd graders. We also run clubs in school at Sandy Ridge, and the last couple of years I have run an England club, a book club, and a reader’s theater.
Outside of school, I love to read, listen to music, paint (although I’m not very good at it!) and go camping with my husband. We go “old school” camping with a tent and cook outside (although I do have to take my coffee pot!). I love to be near water so we usually try to find the closest campsite to a lake. We love visiting new places, and seeing new things, especially those that are a little bit different. We recently found the “revolving head” which is a huge structure outside an office complex in Charlotte. Definitely a talking point!
I have two dogs – Danno, a red hound, and Liberty, a mix! I also have a cat, Henry, who thinks he rules the house. I love Harry Potter and decorate my classroom each year with items relating to the books – I have a Hedwig, a knight bus, various wands and Hufflepuff flags. I keep collecting! One of the many items on my bucket list is to go to Universal to visit the Harry Potter section. My husband is from Florida, and just keeps saying “one day…”
I am excited for camp because I love seeing children learning something new and have fun outside of a school setting in a safe environment. Camp will give them many opportunities to try new things and find something they enjoy.
I am also excited to learn new things myself. Summer camp really isn’t a “thing” in England so I am looking forward to experiencing it myself and seeing it through the eyes of children. I am still a child at heart so will be looking forward to getting involved with as much as I can, too. I am so excited to meet you all and start making new memories at camp.
See you there!
